FAQ

Wheely Clean respectfully acknowledges the Lkwungen, WSÁNEĆ, T’Sou‐ke, Klahoose and Pacheedaht, W̱SÍḴEM, Tseycum, BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), and MÁLEXEŁ (Malahat) Peoples, on who’s unceded territories we operate.

Your health and safety will continue to be at the forefront of how Wheely operates. We have always maintained the highest level of sterilization and infection protocol and have implemented some additional measures to maintain everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

How does it worK?

Simple! Book a New Patient or Re-Care appointment online or by telephone, and we’ll roll up to your home, place of employment or wherever you are! From there, our Registered Dental Hygienist will perform preventative oral health treatment such as cleaning and polish to fluoride application. After treatment is complete and payment received, we’ll set you up with a continuing care-plan and be on our way!

What to expect before your appointment:

Prior to each appointment clients will be contacted and pre-screened to:

  • Determine the patient’s risk level of being infected with COVID-19

  • Determine if the patient falls into one of the vulnerable population groups with respect to COVID-19

  • Explain the new office protocols.

  • Patient Acknowledgement of COVID-19 Form to be completed and signed upon Wheely’s arrival.

What are Wheely’s new SAFETY protocols?

  • We politely ask that no excess items be brought into Wheely. This means that coats, bags and caps need to be left at home which—luckily for our clients—is only a few feet away!

  • Prior to entering Wheely, all clients will be screened from a distance with our thermometer to make sure no one’s running a temperature.

  • Once in Wheely, it’s mandatory that clients sanitize their hands before taking a seat in the dental chair. Don’t worry, we’ve got sanitizer!

  • All clients will be obligated to rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 60 seconds prior to treatment.

  • Appropriate PPE will be worn by our dental hygienist at all times and may vary depending on the treatment being provided.

  • For clients paying out of pocket for services, we ask that they consider a touchless payment method such as e-transfer.

  • Before leaving Wheely, clients will again be asked to wash or disinfect their hands.

  • No handshaking will take place, but we’re happy to provide safely distanced air-high-fives on your way in and out of the clinic!

But what about aerosols?

Great question! Aerosols are a suspension of particles dispersed in air or gas that can occur during dental procedures. Research shows that air can become safe again from aerosols when:

  • Aerosols settle out of the air and land on surfaces, including clothing.

  • Aerosols are evacuated and either removed from the space completely or by air exchange.

Wheely has always provided treatment using High Volume Evacuation (HVAC) equipment. The British Columbia Dental Association concluded that use of a high-volume evacuator will reduce airborne contamination by more than 95%.

BC Centre for Disease Control states: “Where possible, increase air circulation (exchanges) and ventilation in patient areas (e.g., open windows or using well-maintained heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to circulate air).”

The use of HVAC in combination with Wheely’s overhead ventilation, and our ability to open windows and doors makes constant air exchange easy. Because we’re mobile, appointments are naturally staggered, giving sufficient time for air to exchange between each patient.

What is a service fee?

We charge a service fee to accommodate the rising cost of fuel, labor, and supply costs. This will appear as a flat rate fee, added to your bill. This small change will allow us to continue to operate and serve you, as well as maintain our high-tech mobile clinic. If you are booking in at the same location with family members, you can split the difference!

Who Performs the service?

All services are performed by one of our licensed and insured Registered Dental Hygienists.

Do I need to see a dentist?

Nope! Our Registered Dental Hygienists at Wheely Clean are licensed to provide dental hygiene services without the presence of an on-site dentist.

If we notice anything suspicious, (such as an area that requires follow up), we'd be happy to refer you to a trusted dentist or dental professional that can help!

Will my treatment be covered by my insurance?

Absolutely! We do direct billing! Based on your dental insurance provider, coverage will vary. Our team at Wheely Clean will work closely with you to ensure you understand coverage prior to treatment.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens! We kindly ask that all clients let us know their need to reschedule within 24 hours of their appointment, to avoid a late-cancellation fee of $75. If an illness or emergency arises, don’t sweat it, just let us know ASAP so that we can help you re-book at a time that is convenient for you!
